The Bacteria Rothia belongs to the family Micrococcaceae – the same family as Micrococcus spp., Stomatococcus spp. and Kocuria spp. There are 8 species of Rothia – but only Rothia dentocariosa and Rothia mucilaginosa has been associated with human disease.
